Within the general strategic frame of the cluster, Veneto Nanotech launched the project called ECSIN – European Center for the Sustainable Impact of Nanotechnology. The Center represents an International point of reference for the risk assessment and management on the human and environmental health arising from the use of nanotechnology. ECSIN aims at carrying out research activities focused on the characterization and biological study “in vitro” and “in vivo” of engineered nanoparticles.
ECSIN set itself two main objectives:
a. To apply the most recent and innovative scientific investigations for the study of the impact of nanotechnology on the environment, human health and society in order to encourage the political and economic world to adopt new policies and standards and to support companies in the production of non-toxic products, especially in the Medical sector.
b. To provide for survey systems and measurement standards required by companies, public authorities and investors, in order to monitor the nanomaterials and nanoparticles effects on the environmental and human health. To provide for the risk assessment and management related to the use of nanomaterials and nanoparticles in a production environment.
